Steve Daniel has been playing and making didgeridoos for 12 years. His unique combination of powerful vocal harmonic overtones with deeply meditative rhythms invites listeners into inner worlds of transformative experience. Individually and in collaboration with others, Steve also provides shamanic journeys, ceremonial sound offerings, public concerts, and individual and group healing sessions. Steve’s background includes an eclectic mix of meditation, shamanic, crystal, trance, breathwork, Buddhist, yoga, and transpersonal practices.
Steve Daniel is a didgeridoo player whose style of playing with vocal co-harmonizations has been called “heart-opening”, “deepening”, and “energizing”. Steve’s performances offer the powerful sound of the didgeridoo for the benefit of the listener, creating heartfelt soundfields for meditation, spiritual practice, and healing processes.
Steve is a shamanic practitioner who often uses his instrument to facilitate journeys in individual and group settings. He includes meditation, crystal work, and Earth-healing work alongside his personal shamanic practice. Steve makes didgeridoos from local native plants as well as from non-traditional materials, a practice that reveals new ways of channeling primal sounds. Steve has a degree in Geophysics from the University of Texas, and his career in software development has involved analysis and processing of audio and other signals. The understanding of sound and its power at this level provides a foundation for Steve’s understanding of the emotional and spiritual power of sound.
The didgeridoo has its origins in Aboriginal Australia and is used in the ceremonial dance and storytelling traditions of its owners. While Steve is not a direct messenger of the Aboriginal aspects of the didgeridoo, he honors its creators with deep respect and gratitude.
Steve plays alone and in collaboration with others, offering sounds for shamanic journeys, meditations, public concerts, school presentations, and individual healing sessions.
